I love the canning and food self sufficiency Ralph and I have achieved here and our stocks of staples that we have at our fingertips. To be honest I don't think I really beleived it would be put to the test, yet here we are...thanking God for our blessings.
We have been continuing our planting and lambing is almost done. The asparagus bed gave us our first full servings of fresh spears, heavenly. Our plum trees have set fruit and the apple trees are blooming.
We have leeks and onions well started but our Irish potatos are late going in...we have had so much rain the gardens were far too wet to get into.
We naturally self isolate as there is so much to be done it keeps us healthy, happy and busy.
Will this CPP pandemic make people look at the way food is grown and sourced?
Will families take the time to actually get to know each other better?
One can only pray this is the wake up call this country needs to face perhaps its greatest challenge.
God bless you and keep you safe and healthy.
Good to hear all is well, Fiona. Blessings to you and Ralph.

It is well here and we are fine. Thankful we have been able to get fairly food secure. We have seen more gardens every year since we moved here, as well as more chickens and small livestock. People have fenced yards and are taking steps to be better fed in a crisis. Our small grocery store in Brownsville has not had problems with stock...except for toilet paper. They have not raised prices either. They are good people. The Amish stores are also well stocked except for a few days they had no yeast.
DeleteI have to admit I did take time away from the news. There are so many conflicting viewpoints and shady facts.
God keep you safe and well.🤗🤗
Couldn’t agree more! Love the photo tour but my favorite is the Pyrenees bum to bum. Priceless!
ReplyDeleteOne was watching one group and the other was watching another bunch. It made me smile to see them sitting like that.
DeleteI thought I left you a comment, but I reckon I just composed it in my mind! Beautiful spring photos. And I hope there will some heartfelt changes in folks because of this pandemic thingy. I hear seeds are hard to comeby, so that's a concern. Not sure how the food situation will work out, or if folks will have any money to buy it without jobs. Sobering events. Birth pangs.
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad we have our seed bank but we are also aware of its limits. We are still very far behind in our spring garden because of the wet. We will be canning lamb as soon as we can. Our fruit trees are doing very well as are the blueberries.
ReplyDeleteKeep safe and God Bless you both.
