Fall and winter are
interesting seasons for so many reasons. The days shorten and evening
comes earlier, dark and cozy, spent with winter craft projects. Out
come the knitting needles, the glue gun, sticks, ribbon, craft paper,
beads and the like.

Twig Vase with dried roses
It seems somewhat
sacrilegious to make crafts when the evening sun of summer beckons
you to spend time in the garden or walking or just enjoying the
wonderful warmth of a sunny season. Ahh but then the days shorten
and it gets dark earlier...it is perfect for making gifts and
spending time learning new things. Yes I am thankful for the early
evenings!
I have been doing the same thing, I even organized my craft room for those long winter days!
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask for a picture of that twig vase! I love it!! And now that I know what an accomplished knitter you are, I may not show my efforts again.... :)
ReplyDeleteThe vase was super easy!
DeleteGlass jar (salsa jar) twigs from the branch shedding tree out back...and a hot glue gun! There is one thing you should know about my knitting skills...I knit socks.....that's about it!
Fiona - those bedsocks are AWESOME! i swear this year i am learning to knit! i love the vase too! but you are right on the money - i love early winter evenings for projects that just don't seem right to be done on a summer evening. winter, early evenings, it's a time of rest and restful things. these posts of yours have really got me thinking about being thankful. thanks so much. much love.
ReplyDeleteyour friend,
kymber
There are some good instruction sites for knitting online and Ralph loves those big blue socks in winter...better than slippers! I am glad your enjoying the posts! Sometimes I think we miss little things we need to be thankful for!
